Sprout Film Festival
Zinema 2, Duluth, MN
Thursday, October 5th, 2017
Films start at 4:30 p.m. & 7:00 p.m.
Arc Northland is bringing the sixth annual Sprout Touring Film Festival (SFF) to Duluth, MN from New York City, NY. This event takes place on Thursday, October 5th, 2017 at the Zinema 2 Theater, downtown Duluth, MN (222 East Superior Street).
We invite you to experience film and video featuring people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). The Sprout Film Festival includes independent films that either star or are created by individuals with developmental disabilities. People with developmental disabilities as subjects and performers remain marginalized in the media. The SFF aims to raise their profile by showcasing works of all genres featuring this population.
By presenting films of artistry and intellect, the festival hopes to reinforce accurate portrayals of people with developmental disabilities and expose the general public to important issues facing this population. The goal is an enjoyable and enlightening experience that will help breakdown stereotypes, promoting a greater acceptance of differences and awareness of similarities.
Films have been selected by self-advocates and allies and will be shown in two screenings at 4:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., each with a different selection of films. Tickets will be $7 for each screening or $10 when purchasing for both the 4:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. screenings.
To purchase tickets visit www.eventbrite.com. Proceeds from the event go to supporting and expanding Arc Northland’s core services. For more information call 726-4725.
