Adult Advocacy
Arc Northland’s Advocacy Support Services supports adults in a variety of ways:
- Facilitate People First, a group of individuals 18 years of age and older to grow and expand in self-advocacy skills, fully participate in the communities where they live, and engage in legislative advocacy with elected officials and candidates.
- Provide Training and Education in collaboration with Family Training and Services through DHS.
- Assist with employment goals as a Community Partner in collaboration with the Career Force Center.
- Collaborate with other service providers or agencies to support individuals to live the life they choose.
People First is currently meeting virtually twice monthly using Zoom. If you would like more information, please contact Summer Thomas at (218) 355-8550 or by email at: sthomas@arcnorthland.org.
School & Special Education Advocacy
Arc Northland provides support for students and families whose students are receiving Special Education Services or are on 504 plans. Based on individual need, we can provide advocacy in school meetings, help with Individual Education Plans (IEPs), and offer general support to the family and student.
Contact Karel Hedstrom at khedstrom@arcnorthland.org for more information.
